MCP servers, tools and skills
All servers run locally as kcap mcp <name> and turn the agent’s tool calls into authenticated requests against your workspace. Reads are filtered by your session visibility; writes act as you. Every tool carries MCP annotations (read-only, destructive, idempotent), so a harness that decides approval from them runs reads and additive writes without asking

Where a harness has a per-server trust setting (Codex, Gemini CLI), registration pre-approves kcap-sessions, kcap-review, kcap-analytics, kcap-workitems, kcap-plans and kcap-handoff. kcap-flows, kcap-memory, kcap-knowledge and kcap-pages keep prompting, because they launch paid work or can widen who sees something. Two more servers exist but are not registered in agents: kcap mcp judge (evaluation facts, manual use) and flow-result (injected into hosted reviewers so they can return a verdict). kcap mcp artefacts is an alias of pages for configurations written before the rename
Grok Build gets no MCP registration; Pi gets the servers through an extension bridge rather than native MCP
Skills
Section titled “Skills”Skills are instruction documents the agent loads when a request matches. Setup installs them with the Claude Code plugin and under ~/.agents/skills/, ~/.gemini/skills/ or ~/.kiro/skills/ for the other agents
| Skill | Triggers on |
|---|---|
recap | Reading, searching or recalling past sessions and declared plans |
errors | Extracting the tool errors from a stored session |
validate-plan | Checking every item of a plan was completed |
plans | Recording a plan, spec or task list and keeping task status current |
work-items | Declaring a work item’s parts, dependencies and loose ends; what to work on next |
review-flows | Running a structured review loop with a separate reviewer until sign-off |
agent-flows | Running any named flow definition with hosted participants |
start-agents | Starting a separate hosted agent on your daemon |
pages | Making a page to look at or share instead of terminal output |
guided-tour | A tour for someone who just installed kcap |
eval-watch | Following the history import setup started and summarising its first evaluations |
connect-kcap | Installing and signing in kcap, including inside a Muse Assistant VM |
hide | Making the current session owner-only |
disable | Stopping storage of the current session and deleting it |
Approved knowledge documents install as further kcap-<slug> skills through kcap skills sync; see Knowledge
