Your account and preferences

kcap has no single settings page. What you control is spread across a few places; this page says which

Sign in to the web app with the provider your workspace uses: single sign-on with your work email, or GitHub for workspaces that use the GitHub App. Your avatar menu in the top right has Get set up, the install checklist for this account, and Sign out. On single sign-on workspaces, linking your GitHub account from your account settings lets kcap credit commits and pull requests to you

Admins see your name, email, role, join date and whether GitHub is linked. They do not see private session content

The CLI keeps one profile per workspace you belong to, named after the workspace slug, with its own sign-in, default audience, capture lists and daemon settings

Terminal window
kcap profile list
kcap use acme --global # make it the default everywhere
kcap use acme # bind it to this repository
kcap use acme --save # write .kcap.json so the whole team uses it here
kcap login --discover # pick up a workspace you joined since setup

kcap whoami says which profile a command would use. Configuration has the resolution order

The bell’s settings dialog: per kind, in-app and Slack switches; your Slack member ID; Send test. Notifications

The CLI sends anonymous usage reports; the web app uses product analytics. Both have switches: kcap config set telemetry off, KCAP_TELEMETRY=0 or DO_NOT_TRACK=1 for the CLI, and the cookie choice in the web app. Telemetry says what each sends

Repository and project settings you can change

Section titled “Repository and project settings you can change”
  • Knowledge → Settings at repository scope: what new sessions are injected with (promoted facts only, or the strongest uncurated ones too), if you have curation permission there
  • Project settings (/project/<slug>/settings): repositories and members, for project owners
  • Share on each session, and Visibility on each page

Automatic evaluation, correlation and providers are admin settings; see Administration

Settings (⌘,) in the app: the profile it uses, the daemon service, notifications, and whether kcap is linked on your path. Updates are automatic

Everything else, per profile: kcap config show prints it all. The keys are in Configuration
