Run your coding agents from one window.

The desktop app starts Claude Code and Codex sessions on this Mac or on any other machine you run a daemon on. Each session gets its chat, a live terminal, the permission prompts to answer, and the pull request and work item it belongs to. It runs the kcap daemon and bundles the kcap CLI, so there is nothing else to install.

After the download

It installs in three steps.

  1. 01

    Drag it to Applications.

    Open the disk image and drag Kurrent Capacitor into Applications. The app has to run from there: launched from the image or from Downloads, it offers to move itself first, because the terminal link and the background service point at its location.

  2. 02

    Finish setup in the app.

    On first run the app walks you through it: sign in, pick your workspace, link kcap onto your terminal PATH, install hooks for the coding agents it finds, import your session history, and install the daemon as a background service so it starts at login. No terminal needed.

  3. 03

    Start a session.

    Pick an agent and a repository in the launcher, or open a session that is already running, here or on another of your machines. The menu bar icon shows when a session is waiting on you.

Updates arrive through the app. It checks a few times a day, downloads in the background, and asks before it restarts; Check for Updates… in the menu bar checks now. The bundled kcap follows the app’s channel, so kcap update only reports that.

Everywhere else

On Linux, Windows, Intel Macs and in CI, install the CLI.

The npm package is the headless channel: the same kcap, no app. Update it with kcap update.

Fix flaky auth-token refresh test

Tried mocking the clock first — abandoned after the race persisted. Root cause: token cache TTL rounding. Patched in auth/cache.ts, added regression test. Two approaches rejected, one shipped.
